VISION/STORY – When we founded Wellframe, it was not with a particular product or business model in mind, but rather, it was a shared frustration around the lack of guidance and support offered to patients between formal interactions with the healthcare system that brought us together. Because of our various backgrounds, ranging from computer science to epidemiology and primary care medicine, we knew that this a space that was not effectively being addressed by the market in a meaningful way. If done properly, we knew we could build a solution that could have a very large impact on the way care was delivered and significantly improve patient outcomes.
The founding team and I had a shared vision for how emerging technologies and data approaches might be best utilized to extend and amplify the most effective parts of healthcare- human touch. After all, organizations, such as health plans and ACOs have poured tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars into care management programs. Unfortunately, this approach is costly, difficult to scale and often fails to meet the needs of the majority of patients. We wanted to build a solution that could help organizations expand these services- allowing them to reach more people more often, while enabling them to better organize their healthcare resources around the evolving needs of patients. We knew that this needed to happen and that it was inevitable- and we knew that our team had the experience, skillset and drive to make it happen.
Since starting out over two years ago, Wellframe’s approach has differed greatly from other start-ups in the space who only work to measure the effectiveness and ROI of their solution after having gone to market.
Wellframe has taken a unique path in that we spent nearly two years working with our partners to validate our solution and ensure that the approach we’ve taken works. To this end, we’ve completed several successful clinical trials with top-tier academic medical centers even before we brought our solution to market. Now over two years later, to see a team of world-class engineers, data scientists, clinicians and service professionals inspired to make this vision a reality, and to carry it forward beyond what we once thought was possible, is both humbling and inspiring.
We’ve heard from patients who, through Wellframe, have felt more connected and more cared for through some of the most frightening and vulnerable moments of their lives. We’ve met clinicians who, equipped with unprecedented insight into the day-to-day needs of their patients and novel channels to communicate with them, feel empowered to provide a level of care never before possible. This is what keeps us committed to continuously testing and iterating on and the Wellframe solutions so that we can build the best solution possible. No one on our team would have it any other way.
